ジャパンタイムズの初代主筆、頭本元貞が発行した大正時代の週刊紙「ヘラルドオブアジア」をデジタル化
株式会社ジャパンタイムズ(本社:東京都千代田区、代表取締役会長兼社長:末松弥奈子)は、アーカイブをブック形式で検索、閲覧できる『ジャパンタイムズブックビューア』で「ヘラルドオブアジア」をデジタル化し、提供を開始しました。「ヘラルドオブアジア」は、ジャパンタイムズの初代主筆、頭本元貞が設立した出版社「ヘラルド社」から、大正5年から昭和13年にかけて発行されていた週刊紙です。タイトルからも連想させる通り、日本人の視点から東アジアをとらえ、公平、実直な見解を明確に伝えることを目的として発行していました。主に欧米、国内の外交官、知識人の詳細にわたる動向、著名人の寄稿、国際情勢、日本の労働運動、社会主義運動をめぐる報道をはじめ、自由で独立した考えを持つ論説は、当時、外資系新聞も多く存在していた中、特異な位置を占めていました。歴史的に重要な期間において、独自の見解を提供していた「ヘラルドオブアジア」を、研究者をはじめ、多くの学生、学校機関に最大限に活かしていただきたいと願っています。『ジャパンタイムズアーカイブ』は、1897年の創刊から2021年までの124年分の全紙面をデジタル化しており、201
